πΆ Song 164 β Who Is My Neighbor?
Paper 164 β At the Feast of Dedication πΆ Song: Who Is My Neighbor? (Verse 1 β The Road to Jerusalem) Along the road to Jerusalem, While shadows gathered, cold and dim, The Master walked toward danger's door, To give the light one chance once more. Though warned of councils, plots, and fear, His Father's purpose drew Him near. Love would speak though few believed, And truth would shine though none received. (Verse 2 β The Lawyer's Question) A learned man stepped from the crowd, His motives hidden, words polite and proud. "What must I do eternal life to gain? What path survives when all things wane?" "Love God," he said, "with heart and soul. Love your neighbor and be whole." Yet still he pressed the ancient claim: "But Teacher, tell me whom I must name." (Verse 3 β The Wounded Traveler) A lonely traveler bruised and torn, Left half alive on a desert morn. The priest walked past. The Levite too. Religion saw, But mercy never grew. The wounded waited in the dust, As hope seemed buried with his trust. (Chorus) Who is my neighbor? The one in need. Who is God's servant? The one who sees. Not by nation, Not by creed. Love becomes the living deed. Who is my neighbor? The answer came: Anyone suffering Along life's way. (Verse 4 β The Samaritan) Then came a stranger, once despised, With mercy shining in his eyes. He bound the wounds and eased the pain, Asked nothing back, sought no acclaim. The Kingdom stood revealed that day: Compassion is the higher way. And all the walls that men defend Collapse where love begins to mend. (Verse 5 β The Blind Beggar) A blind man waited by the road, Burdened by a lifetime load. Then Jesus stopped and called his name, And nothing afterward remained the same. His eyes were opened to the day, While others turned their gaze away. For blindness is not merely sight, But choosing darkness over light. (Bridge) Some trust temples, Some trust law. Some see weakness, Some see flaw. But children of the Father's care Find every soul deserving prayer. The heart awakened learns to see: God's family is humanity. (Verse 6 β Solomon's Porch) In Solomon's Porch the Master stood, Speaking of the Father's good. Not slaves of fear, Not cast away, But sons and daughters led each day. No hand of darkness can remove The soul secured within God's love. The Father's care remains the same, And He forever knows our name. (Final Chorus) Who is my neighbor? The broken one. The lonely one. The forgotten one. The stranger standing in the rain. The weary traveler marked by pain. Who is my neighbor? The answer still: The one before you, Loved by God, And waiting for compassion's will. (Outro) A lawyer sought a definition. Jesus gave a revelation. A religion of boundaries became A universe of brotherhood. And on a dusty road between Jerusalem and Jericho, Mercy became theology. πππ
