[Intro]

[Verse 1]
He painted through the winters
Through dust and sleepless days
His fingers wore the colors
Till the room turned into haze
One shape kept growing sharper
One fire in the line
A dragon in the shadows
With gold for teeth and spine

[Pre-Chorus]
He hid it in the quiet
He sealed it with his name
Then wrapped it in a warning
And carried it through rain
To the door of his old enemy
Who laughed at every scar
He said, “Take this, keep it close”
As thunder crossed the yard

[Chorus]
The dragon off the canvas
(Dragon off the canvas)
He gave it to his enemy
And prayed it would forgive
The dragon off the canvas
(Dragon off the canvas)
It found the flesh, the fear, the breath
And showed him how to live

[Verse 2]
The rival broke the paper
The frame fell to the floor
The paint began to tremble
Like a storm behind the door
A claw came out in silence
A wing of blackened flame
Then scales like falling iron
Breathed out the painter’s name

[Pre-Chorus]
It crossed the room like judgment
It moved like broken vows
The candles bowed their faces
The walls went pale and bowed
The enemy stood frozen
With all his pride undone
The dragon stepped from pigment
And the painting was gone

[Instrumental interlude]

[Bridge]
Now the artist walks in silence
Past the ashes of his hands
He never knows for certain
What his mercy understands
Some gifts are made for grieving
Some gifts are made to bite
And some long-hidden fire
Must wake to claim its right

[Instrumental interlude]

[Final Chorus]
The dragon off the canvas
(Dragon off the canvas)
He gave it to his enemy
And watched the room go still
The dragon off the canvas
(Dragon off the canvas)
It left the frame in living breath
And came for him as well

[Guitar solo]

[Outro]
So if you paint your anger
Take care what shape it learns
A dragon waits in silence
Till the final line burns
