Paper 135 – John the Baptist 🎶 Song: The Voice in the Desert (Introduction) A prophet rose from priestly line, Zacharias and Elizabeth, faith divine. In desert silence, a voice was born, To call the people, hearts forlorn. (Verse 1 – John the Baptist’s Parents) From holy roots his life began, Consecrated child, a chosen man. Faithful parents, promise true, Prepared the way for work to do. Verse 2 – The Death of Zacharias) When Zacharias passed away, John grew strong in desert sway. Austere life, with spirit bold, The prophet’s fire began to unfold. (Verse 3 – The Life of John) Locusts and honey, garments plain, A Nazarite heart, no worldly gain. In wilderness he found his call, To lift the lowly, awaken all. (Verse 4 – The Ministry of John) “Repent, for the kingdom is near,” His cry of truth, both sharp and clear. Jordan’s waters, cleansing sign, Renewed the soul, made hearts align. (Verse 5 – The Baptism of Jesus) Jesus came with humble grace, John beheld his holy face. Not for sin, but consecration, A vow of love, a revelation. Then heaven spoke, the voice divine, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” The Adjuster Personal, light released, The Father’s will in him increased. (Verse 6 – John in Prison) Herod’s chains could bind his frame, But not extinguish prophet’s flame. In darkness still his faith would rise, Hope unbroken, truth survives. (Verse 7 – Death of John the Baptist) Herodias schemed, the dance was done, The prophet’s life cut short, undone. Yet faithful to the end he stood, A martyr’s crown, a life of good. (Bridge – The Forerunner’s Legacy) The voice that cried in desert air, Prepared the hearts with fervent prayer. Though silenced now, his work complete, The Master’s path made firm and sweet. (Chorus) The voice in the desert, strong and clear, Calling the nations, hearts to hear. From Jordan’s stream to prison’s wall, The herald of Christ fulfilled his call.
