Four years old and we are together everywhere we go. You just learned your favorite words, “No, Mama, No.” “I love you Mama”. “I love you too little man.” You slide your tiny hand into my hand. Jesus, please protect my child’s precious heart. I know that you’ve been with him since the very start. Please guide him to be honest, moral, and on a path that is true. Help him to be a man who strives to be just like you. Fifteen years old and taller than me now. You want to tell me who, what, when, where, and how. Raise your voice and roll your eyes. So many groans, mutters, and sighs. Jesus, please protect my child’s precious heart. I know that you’ve been with him since the very start. Please guide him to be honest, moral, and on a path that is true. Help him to be a man who strives to be just like you. Thirty-eight-year-old man with your own kids and a wife, Swimming and grilling in the backyard, living a beautiful life. You look over at me, and your eyes seem to say, “Thank you, Mom, for every night when you prayed.” Jesus, please protect my child’s precious heart. I know that you’ve been with him since the very start. Please guide him to be honest, moral, and on a path that is true. Help him to be a man who strives to be just like you. Thank you, Jesus, for leading my son on his way home to you.
