House of Mirrors II

Your words have power to shape and to shift me. What others say can certainly sift me. Words of love, indifference or hate Can, within my house, a mirror create. Where am I in this house of mirrors? They planted their seeds through what they said, Seeking to shape me by what I’d been fed. Was I common, unloved, or almost divine? Distortions and contortions played havoc in my mind. Where am I in this house of mirrors? Dad said that I could become what I wanted to be. I was told that I needed to open my eyes to see. My love said that I couldn’t save the world. And I heard many lies before the truth was unfurled. Where am I in this house of mirrors? Am I a nothing because I can’t dance or sing? Or am I true royalty who can do most anything? Distortions of truth are mirrored in my mind, Shaping and molding me. But what will I find? Where am I in this house of mirrors? Whose glory do I seek: my own or another’s? What’s true about me, or my sisters and brothers? Are we what we eat? Are we what we believe? Are we what we think? Are we what we receive? Where am I in this house of mirrors? The Man from Galilee was a fisher of men Who spoke the truth and will come again. He said He could transform me – that I could receive A new identity, and be set free, if I would only believe. Where am I in this house of mirrors? He bore the image of God, as His Son. He promised to make me – with Him – one. As I look into His Book, I meditate and believe. I keep speaking His truth to the mirror to receive Until I can see the image in His mirror is me! When their words deny what He says about me, I return to my Bible to check it and see. I find a mirror, look that image in the eye, and Keep speaking God's truth to shatter the lie Until I can see His image re-formed in the mirror as me!
