Me Ol' Cell Phone

Haunting Irish folk ballad with slow atmospheric intro led by solo pan flute playing a mournful Celtic melody over a soft ambient drone, After 8 bars, gentle fingerpicked acoustic guitar enters, Deep warm male vocal with clear natural Irish accent, restrained and intimate at first, Tempo 65–75 BPM, Sparse verses with acoustic guitar and light bodhrán pulse beginning in verse 2, Pan flute weaves between vocal lines and replaces most fiddle fills, with occasional low fiddle harmony underneath, Pre-chorus builds with swelling strings and stronger bodhrán, Chorus expands emotionally with layered male backing vocals, fuller percussion, and soaring pan flute counter-melody, Bridge grows dramatic with rising percussion and expressive pan flute responses, Final chorus triumphant yet emotional, rich harmonies, organic cinematic Celtic production, windswept and nostalgic mood

[Instrumental Intro: Haunting pan flute]

[Verse 1]
Me old black phone by the bedside lay
Cracked like the cliffs of Galway Bay
Updates called like a distant bell
But the poor old thing just couldn't tell

[Verse 2]
The message came in a cold blue line
“No longer supported past this time.”
No patch, no fix from the distant throne
Just silence for me faithful phone

[Chorus]
The screens still lit but it sure is slow
And the tide of change won’t let me be
I hold what was in the afterglow
With a new phone fresh from across the sea

[Verse 3]

Through years it carried me kin and friends
Photos and words with no sharp ends
I bought the newest with glass so clear
All polished steel and engineer’s cheer

[Verse 4]
But how to carry me life across?
The texts, the tunes I will not toss
“Back it up,” said the glowing guide
But error messages flashed and multiplied
Contacts doubled, then vanished clean
Photos stranded in some in-between
Bluetooth failed the fifteenth time
Something so simple takes so much time

[Pre-Chorus]
Through spinning wheels and bars of blue
I whispered prayers to push it through
“Transfer complete”… then froze midstream
Like a banshee caught in this machine

[Chorus]
The screens still lit but it sure is slow
And the tide of change won't let me be
I hold what was in the afterglow
With a new phone fresh from across the sea

[Bridge Emotional swell — hopeful but strained]
Now every swipe is strange to me
No home key where it used to be
Gestures hidden like long lost gold
In menus deep and dark and cold

The ringtones gone, the icons new
Nothing rests where I once knew
Yet somewhere in this shining glare
Me scattered life lies waiting there

[Outro - Soft, then resolute, 8 second pan flute wail after final lyric]
So farewell, friend of the cracked old frame
You flickered brave through loss and flame
Now I stand with new phone in hand
Never so glad, never so grand
Getting a new phone is such a chore
As I master this glass I feared before

[Spoken with an echo after music ends]
(And the first call is a scammer)
