**Lyrics:** [Intro] [Upright bass walking line, soft brushed snare, male backing vocals] (Shoo-bop, shoo-bop, ooh-wah) (Sweet, sweet, first love) (Shoo-bop, shoo-bop, ooh-wah) [Verse 1 female vocal] I threw off my sweater, kicked off my saddle shoes Took the ribbons from my hair, reliving the happy news I'm staring at my bedroom clock, it's a quarter past ten But my mind is at the sock hop, and my beating heart is amend I can't close my eyes , I'm just smiling in the dark when you asked me for that dance , baby, you've captured my heart! [Chorus] [Full doo-wop harmonies swell] Oh, my head is spinning round and round! (Shoo-bop, shoo-bop) Ever since your sweet lips, made my feet leave the ground! (Dum-dum, dum-dum) We were blushing and giggling, in the gymnasium light Now I'm kissing my pillow, baby, all through the night! Oh, what a magical, wonderful night! [Verse 2 female vocal] We danced to every beat, we laughed until we cried You had that sweet Brylcreem hair, and a twinkle in your eye Then the DJ slowed it down, played a soft tender tune You pulled me close, my knees they swooned we stood so close, i was weak Then you in kissed me on my cheek oh, it was magic, it's true My cheeks turned bright pink, and I just melted into you! [Chorus female backup] [Full doo-wop harmonies swell] Oh, my head is spinning round and round! [Bridge female vocals] [Music strips back to just bass and finger snaps] Now I'm lying in the dark, softly touching my lips Remembering the way you held me, the sway of our hips I'm replaying the moment, over and over again I'm the luckiest teenage girl, tell all my friends! (Shoo-bop, shoo-bop, tell all my friends!) [Saxophone Solo] [Smooth, crying, romantic 1950s tenor saxophone solo over a gentle doo-wop beat] [Chorus females voices] [Maximum harmony, sweet and soaring] Oh, my head is spinning round and round! (Shoo-bop, shoo-bop) Ever since your sweet lips, made my feet leave the ground! (Dum-dum, dum-dum) We were blushing and giggling, in the gymnasium light Now I'm kissing my pillow, baby, all through the night! [Outro femsle vocals] [Tempo slows down, sweet fading harmonies] All through the night... (Shoo-bop, shoo-bop) My first sock hop kiss... (Ooh-wah, ooh-wah) I'm still blushing... Goodnight, my baby... (Fade out on a soft upright bass pluck and a gentle giggle) [End]
