[Verse 1] Life was so darn blessed When we lived at the front The great and mighty river Gave us all that we'd want We rode the Long Sault Rapids Before they were gone When we lived by the water In Morrisburg town [Chorus] Let me rest in the river When they lay me on down Let me sleep with sweet Robbie In Morrisburg town [Verse 2] Daddy was a farmer When the weather was good He worked upon the land Where my grandfather stood Now the farm is underwater And the houses are gone And we cry by the river In Morrisburg town [Chorus] Let me rest in the river When they lay me on down Let me sleep with sweet Robbie In Morrisburg town [Instrumental Refrain] [Chorus] Let me rest in the river When they lay me on down Let me sleep with sweet Robbie In Morrisburg town [Verse 3] I can still remember How it was way back then Life along the water And the river boat men Now the lakers come on through And the houses are gone And we watch by the river In Morrisburg Town [Chorus] Let me rest in the river When they lay me on down Let me sleep with sweet Robbie In Morrisburg town [Chorus] Let me rest in the river When they lay me on down Let me sleep with sweet Robbie In Morrisburg town
