[Title: WRITE, AT THE COMMAND OF THE LORD] [Verse 1 — The Scribes] Baruch, take up the scroll; Write down the word of the LORD, Spoken through Jeremiah— Let every word be heard. Moses, chisel out the stone; Prepare the tablets once again. Beneath the sapphire glory, Receive His covenant for men. The tablets broke in anger, But His word shall still remain; Let the laws of holy Yahweh Be before His people again. [Verse 2 — The Songs] David, write your psalms; Serenade the listening sheep. Pour your heart out in the pasture; Sing the prayers you cannot keep. Deborah, let your song arise; Let your summons reach Barak: “Rise and gather for the battle; God has called—do not turn back!” Asaph, write your melodies; Let the worshippers resound. In the tabernacle of David, Raise to God a joyful sound! [Chorus] Write at the command of the LORD! Let His Spirit through your pen be poured. Let His words go farther Than your voice could ever carry, Far beyond the reach of listening ears. Let your tongue become the pen Of a ready writer— Write His word for generations yet to hear! [Verse 3 — The Visions] Daniel, write the dreams; Seal the visions and the scroll. For a generation yet to come, There is more they need to know. Write the dreams that strengthen Gideons Who are hiding out of sight; Let the trembling hear His promise And find courage for the fight. Though their enemies surround them, More than they could ever count, Let the word the LORD has spoken Draw His hidden warriors out. Bezalel, write your blueprints, Filled with wisdom from His throne; Fashion all that He’s provided For a dwelling of His own— Build His third tabernacle Out of precious Living Stones. [Verse 4 — The Witnesses] Write your revelations, Like John upon that lonely shore. Do not let the fear of being misunderstood Keep you silent anymore. Write down your testimonies; Tell what mercy brought you through. Let the weary hear of Ruth’s redemption— There is hope for them there, too. Write the words that guide the battle, The holy rules by which we stand; Like Joshua, inscribe His law On plastered stones within the land. [Chorus] Write at the command of the LORD! Let His Spirit through your pen be poured. Let His words go farther Than your voice could ever carry, Far beyond the reach of listening ears. Let your tongue become the pen Of a ready writer— Write His word for generations yet to hear! [Bridge — The Arrows] Let His words shoot forth Like arrows, razor-sharp; Let His truth pierce through The armour of the hardened heart. Let His holy light Reach the places dark within; Let it penetrate the veil Where the blindness has crept in. Over every mind in torment, Over every darkened soul, Let the light of understanding Shine through words upon the scroll! [Movement — The King’s Scroll] Write for yourself a scroll, A copy of the laws of Yahweh. As you rise to serve within His kingdom, Keep His words before your face. Read them all your days; Meditate through day and night. Write His laws upon your heart; Keep His statutes in your sight. That you may not sin against Him, That you learn to fear His name; Keep the words that He has spoken— Walk in all that they proclaim. Let your heart not rise in pride Above your sisters and your brothers. Let the throne become a place From which you humbly serve the others. Turn neither to the right Nor wander to the left; Hold fast to His commandments With every step and every breath. May your days within His kingdom Be prolonged beneath His hand; May your children and their children Learn His ways and understand. May the work your hands are given Prosper as you walk His way; Let the leaves that bring the nations healing Reach the wounded where they lay. [Final Chorus] Write at the command of the LORD! Let His Spirit through your pen be poured. Let His words go farther Than your voice could ever carry, Far beyond the reach of listening ears. Let your tongue become the pen Of a ready writer— Write His word for generations yet to hear! [Outro — Spoken, Then Rising] For the Gideons still hiding, For the Ruths who need redeeming, For the hearts awaiting light— Write. For your children and their children, For the nations needing healing, At the command of the LORD— WRITE!
