INSANE ASYLUM BLUES Verse 1 Woke up in a hallway where the clocks don’t keep no time, Doctors whisper secrets, say my heartbeat’s out of line. Walls are hummin’ stories, shadows wearing my old shoes, And I’m walkin’ with the echoes of these Insane Asylum Blues. Chorus Oh, these blues keep callin’, Down the rusted corridor. Every door I open Shows me somethin’ I’ve seen before. I ain’t crazy, baby — just payin’ my midnight dues, Singin’ in the dark with these Insane Asylum Blues. Verse 2 Nurses float like phantoms, scribblin’ lightning in their books, I swear the moon’s a warder with those cold and watchful looks. They say I’m “gettin’ better,” but that’s just another ruse, ‘Cause sanity’s a stranger to these Insane Asylum Blues. Bridge If freedom’s on the menu, They forgot to serve my plate. But I’ll keep hummin’ low, Till they unlock that iron gate. Chorus Oh, these blues keep callin’, Down the rusted corridor… I ain’t crazy, baby — just payin’ my midnight dues, Livin’ in the shadow of these Insane Asylum Blues.
