# **SEARCHING THE SCRIPTURES** ### *Preparing for the Coming of the Peacemaker* --- ## **[NARRATION]** *(Soft piano, Native flute.)* The promised sign was drawing near. The people knew the Peacemaker would soon come... but questions filled their minds. How would it happen? Had the prophets already explained it? Where could they find trustworthy answers? The faithful made an important choice. They didn't chase rumors. They searched the sacred records. They gathered together. They remembered the words of earlier prophets and compared one testimony with another. They wanted their faith to rest on what God had already revealed—not on speculation. That simple decision prepared their hearts for what was coming. As I read these verses, I couldn't help thinking how much our world needs that same pattern. We're surrounded by opinions. Everyone seems to have another theory. But the Peacemaker points us back to the same place. Search the scriptures. Pray. Listen for His voice. Looking back over my own journey, I've learned that the greatest blessing wasn't finding answers to every question. It was finding Christ through the search itself. Perhaps that's why Sahnhehmpeht begins this way. Before the people saw the Peacemaker... they learned to seek Him. Maybe that's where every true journey begins. So this week... before searching everywhere else... open the scriptures. Ask the Lord to teach you.
