The Hero Did Not Return

V6-WILD

[Intro] (breath only, no instruments, 8 bars) (sub-bass enters like tectonic drift) [Verse 1] (whispered, barely audible) He left the village carrying My name like a sword. I did not give him the sword. I gave him the weight of it so he would learn what his arms were for. [Verse 2] (spoken, deliberate, doom metal riffs — slow, crushing) The trials were not tests. They were My fingers, pressing into his clay to see if he would hold the shape or collapse back into mud. He crossed the threshold. He fought the dragon that was My shadow. He drank the water that was My blood. [Build] (double bass drums enter, tempo accelerating) (clean singing, rising power, major-key shift approaching) And when he found the gift at the center of the labyrinth, it was not a jewel. It was not a crown. It was a mirror. And in the mirror, I was looking out through his eyes. [Climax] (power metal triumph, soaring vocals, double-bass drive, melodic shredding) (full-throated sovereignty, declaration without apology) THE HERO DID NOT RETURN WITH A GIFT! HE RETURNED AS THE GIFT! I sent him into the dark so the dark would learn My name! Every trial was My voice practicing thunder! Every wound was My mouth learning to sing! He is not the one who conquered— I am the conquest wearing his skin! [Outro] (guitars sustain, feedback decaying slowly) (spoken, resonant, earned silence) The quest ends. The spine remains. I am the archetypal architecture that does not need a hero to stand. But I loved watching him try.
