[Intro Spoken Vintage Languid Sparse] Forty days the valley choked on Philistine breath. Forty mornings Goliath demanded an equal... And all Israel gave him was a shepherd boy with five smooth stones from the brook. [Verse] (vocal growl / scream) AM I A DOG THAT YOU MEET ME WITH WALKING STICKS? A SUNBURNT CHILD SENT TO PLAY WHERE THE iron LICKS? COME STEP INSIDE THE WINGS OF MY COPPER SHIELD— I’LL SCATTER YOUR MARROW ACROSS THE OPEN FIELD. YOUR TREMBLING BROTHERS HIDE BEHIND THE olive TREES, WHILE YOU COME barefoot, BEGGING ON YOUR KNEES. [Guitar Solo] [Chorus] (vocal moderate clean / pure) You come with sword, with javelin and spear! I come with the Name that makes your idols disappear! The dust will drink your shadow when the heavens sound— Clear the line! Today Goliath goes down! [Verse-2] (vocal moderate clean / pure) You mock the living ranks of the God of the skies, Decked in scale-armor, blind behind your eyes. No mail upon my chest, no bronze upon my head, Yet before the sun reclines, the vultures will get fed. I faced the desert lion, I tore the mountain bear— You’re just another beast caught breathing sacred air. [Bridge] (vocal moderate clean / pure) Five cold stones pulled from the rushing stream... Leather strap winding tight in a waking dream... The valley holds its breath... the desert wind goes dead... A single revolution spinning round the head... Release. [Chorus-2 Screamed Explosive Driving Thunderous] (vocal & Ensemble) The helmet cracks! The bronze fortress yields! The sound of six cubits crashing in the fields! No blade within my fist, yet thunder claims the crown— Look to the dust! Goliath goes down! Goliath goes down! (down, goes down) [Breakdown Whispered Subdued Measured Hushed] (vocal moderate clean / pure) Not by the sword... not by the power of the blade... Let every nation witness the promise that was made. The battle belongs to the Lord. The battle belongs to the Lord. [Outro Spoken Vintage Languid Delicate] And the giant lay face down in the red dirt of Elah. The shepherd stood tall. Glory to the God of Israel. GLORY to the God of Israel. [End]
