I drove by that little Kingdom Hall More times than I could count Simple walls and quiet grounds No grand display around One Sunday morning curiosity Finally pulled me through the door And before the meeting even started I felt somethin’ I’d not felt before Smiles from people I had never met Handshakes warm and real Nobody pushin’, nobody pretendin’ Just kindness you could feel They opened up their Bibles often Not just once or twice Every point was read from Scripture Plain and clear, precise No lofty words to praise traditions No stories shaped by men Just patient hearts explainin’ What the Scriptures really meant And every verse connected cleanly Like a lamp cut through the haze For the first time in my life I understood what the Bible said Nobody passed a collection plate No pressure, no demand No whispered talk of money No bargains made by man They simply came to worship To learn and sing and pray And somehow that quiet honesty Kept drawing me their way I watched the children listen Saw older ones treated with care And there was peace inside that building You could almost breathe in the air When the final prayer was spoken Nobody rushed away People stayed and talked together Like family there to stay And drivin’ home that afternoon The world felt somehow new Questions that had followed me Were finally breaking through I knew I had to come back There was more I needed to know Because truth has a certain sound to it And deep inside… your heart just knows Now twenty years have come and gone Since I first walked through those doors A searching heart with questions Trying to understand it all And now I stand beside the entrance Shaking unfamiliar hands Seeing that same nervous smile The one I once had I tell them, “Come sit beside us, You’re welcome here today” And I watch the weight upon them Start to slowly drift away Because someone once showed kindness And took the time with me And that simple loving welcome Changed where my life would lead The truth that reached my heart back then Still shines just as bright today And now I’m here to welcome others The same warm way
