[Verse 1] It's funny how the people that you haven't met Might change the way your story's going to go One day they're just a face among a thousand, The next they're someone you've come to know. You couldn't say exactly when it happened, Or point to where it all began Somewhere between a hello and a conversation, A stranger became a friend. [Chorus] What makes a friend a friend? How do the little moments turn to memories? Who knows where the winding road might lead, Or who we'll meet along the way? And when the laughter starts all over again, Friends don't need a reason... to be friends. [Verse 2] Another minute, another day, another year goes by, And somehow all those little moments stay. The things we laughed about, the stories we've retold, Still make us smile as though they happened yesterday. Sometimes the years can take us different ways, And life moves on with places still to go. But when we meet, the conversation carries on, As though we'd only said goodbye an hour ago. [Chorus] What makes a friend a friend? How do the little moments turn to memories? Who knows where the winding road might lead, Or who we'll meet along the way? And when the laughter starts all over again, Friends don't need a reason... to be friends. [Bridge] Some friends are near, some far away, Some we've never met face to face. But miles don't matter when the laughter starts, There's always room for one more along the way. And somewhere there's a smile we've yet to see, A friendship waiting to make new memories. [Final Chorus] What makes a friend a friend? How do the little moments turn to memories? Who knows where the winding road might lead, Or who we'll meet along the way? And when the laughter starts all over again, Friends don't need a reason... to be friends. Friends don't need a reason... To be friends. Friends don't need a reason... To be friends.
