Patrick said. But Who Investigated Patrick?

V4.5-ALL

PATRICK SAID [Verse 1] Seven days behind a closed door, eleven ready, one stood still. No guilty verdict came today, but freedom isn’t freedom still. Her babies aren’t coming home. Those years don’t come back again. Even if she walks away someday, there’s no going back to then. [Chorus] So what happens now? Who goes back and looks again? At every piece they passed right by, every question left for dead? When the story didn’t match the evidence, why wasn’t that enough to check? How did they know? Patrick said. [Verse 2] A search about disabling airbags months before she nearly died. Different clothes, different shoes, and questions left about the time. Blood down the outside of the house— does that look like the fall they claimed? If the evidence tells another story, why wasn’t anybody asking names? A fourteen-second call for medicine that was already on the shelf. One detail doesn’t prove a thing— but how many before you look somewhere else? [Chorus] Because that’s the part I can’t get past: not one clue, but all of them. Each one may have an explanation, but nobody went looking then. The timeline, searches, clothes and blood, the things that don’t quite fit. And when they needed to know what happened— Patrick said. [Bridge] That’s what circumstantial evidence is. Not one smoking gun. It’s pieces that begin to mean something when you put them all as one. Maybe there’s an innocent answer for every question in my head. But how would we ever know if nobody investigated? [Final Verse] And that’s what hurts about today. She wasn’t found guilty. Thank God for that. But this isn’t justice. It’s an unfinished story getting older by the day. Because if they looked at the wrong person then, what could they possibly find now? The clothes weren’t preserved. The scene is gone. The years have passed somehow. So even if Lindsay walks free, there’s another question waiting there: Will anybody finally investigate him? Or will the answer forever be— Patrick said.
