The Crow and the Pitcher

The Crow and the Pitcher On a sultry summer day, a parched crow soared away in search of refreshing water. Traversing lofty hills and wandering through verdant woods, a precious drop of water proved elusive. Yonder stood a solitary pitcher; filled with delight, he fluttered toward it in an instant. Yet the water lay scarce and his bill was modest, leaving the soothing drink just out of reach. Pondering with deep contemplation, a brilliant inspiration suddenly illuminated his mind. Gathering smooth pebbles from the earthen ground, he dropped them into the vessel one by one—plop, plop! One, two, three, and four, with each pebble placed, the water wondrously ascended toward the brim. Now that his bill could graze the cool surface, he drank bountifully and rejoiced with every sip.
