[verse1] The middle is the left the end is the right If you were taking bets on the outcome You would be celebrating tonight [verse2] So we hear it's taking longer than it should But that always sounds the same 2 weeks to 20 years So much money to gain [Chorus] When you're down and out It's hard to focus on the rising tide Your anger grows steadily But you can't afford to take it for a ride [verse3] It's okay to outrage But it's not all right to fight If you were previously a winner Your wallet is now thin and tight [verse4] The monthly output is astounding When your income is at a loss You're right and left wingers Determined this by a coin toss [Chorus] When you're down and out It's hard to focus on the rising tide Your anger grows steadily You are now in the riptide [verse5] They bragged about equality Then they stuffed you in a box Even more than an average bear Just found himself outfoxed [verse6] This is not about legality This is not about morality It's about channeling currency Then claiming neutrality [Bridge] The consequences are severe The mortality rate is high Even if you ate less for dinner At least you're still alive [Chorus] When you're down and out It's hard to focus on the rising tide Your anger grows tired You just want to stay inside [verse7] The last one in is the first one out But some did not go inside When the fires erupted They didn't have to run Then they refused to hide [Outro] The moral are not the majority The ethical is in short supply The true measure of anything Is done by your own eyes Don't believe what they tell you Not even taken with salt If you became a swallower It's truly your own fault Some may return to normal Most of them will not While you may be empathetic That was always part of the plot
