9 -SEPTEMBER [Memorial of Saint Peter Claver, Priest] GOSPEL HYMN-ENGLISH Luke 6:20-26

CHORUS Blessed are you, the poor in spirit, God’s Kingdom shall be yours; Blessed are you who hunger and weep, Your joy shall live forevermore. STANZA 1 Blessed are those who hunger now, For you shall be satisfied; Blessed are those who weep today, For laughter shall fill your hearts. STANZA 2 Blessed are you when people hate, And cast your name away; For the Son of Man you suffer now, Rejoice and leap for joy! STANZA 3 Your reward is great in heaven, Your faithful God is near; The prophets suffered just like you, So do not yield to fear. STANZA 4 But woe to those who trust in wealth, For comfort fades away; Woe to those who laugh and feast, Who turn from God today. STANZA 5 Woe to those whom all praise now, When truth is cast aside; For false prophets won the praise of men, But God sees what we hide. CHORUS Blessed are you, the poor in spirit, God’s Kingdom shall be yours; Blessed are you who hunger and weep, Your joy shall live forevermore.
