Paper 96 – Yahweh, God of the Hebrews 🎶 Song: From Tribal God to Universal Father (Verse 1 – Yahweh the Tribal God) In desert winds the tribes would pray, To Yahweh’s might in war’s array. A god of battle, fierce and strong, Protecting clans as they marched along. (Bridge – The Tribal Faith) He was the shield, the sword, the flame, A tribal god with warrior’s name. Though narrow still, the seed was sown, A path to God was yet unknown. (Chorus – The Journey of Faith) From tribal fear to heaven’s light, The vision grew through prophets’ sight. By faith alone the soul would see, The God of love, of destiny. (Verse 2 – Influence of Egypt) In Pharaoh’s halls the Hebrews stayed, Where gods of Nile their power displayed. Yet whispers spoke of Aton’s sun, One God alone, the Holy One. Moses learned in Egypt’s court, A higher truth he would transport. (Bridge – Seeds of Monotheism) Though idols ruled and temples grand, A greater God was close at hand. The Salem creed, the faith of old, Prepared the way for truth untold. (Chorus – The Journey of Faith) From tribal fear to heaven’s light, The vision grew through prophets’ sight. By faith alone the soul would see, The God of love, of destiny. (Verse 3 – Moses and the Law) Moses rose with voice of flame, Transforming Yahweh’s tribal name. No longer god of war alone, But lawgiver upon the throne. He bound the tribes with covenant strong, A nation’s faith to last so long. (Bridge – Yahweh the National God) He gave them law, he gave them creed, A God of justice, met their need. Though stern and fierce, the truth was near, A higher vision would appear. (Verse 4 – Prophets of Israel) Isaiah spoke of God’s embrace, Jeremiah of justice’s face. Amos cried for mercy’s song, Hosea taught where love belongs. They raised Yahweh from tribal claim, To God of nations, one supreme. (Bridge – Yahweh the Ethical God) No longer bound to tribe or land, But moral law by God’s own hand. Justice, mercy, truth proclaimed, The universal God was named. (Chorus – The Journey of Faith) From tribal fear to heaven’s light, The vision grew through prophets’ sight. By faith alone the soul would see, The God of love, of destiny. (Verse 5 – Yahweh Universalized) The prophets’ voice prepared the way, For Christ to come and truth to stay. No longer God of one small band, But Father of all in every land. From desert tribes to nations wide, The universal God presides. (Bridge – The Final Transition) From Yahweh’s name to Father’s love, The truth descended from above. Jesus spoke with tender grace, Of God as Father, every place. (Final Chorus – The Eternal Father) From tribal god to heaven’s flame, The journey raised Yahweh’s name. Through Moses’ law and prophets’ call, The Father’s love embraced them all. By faith alone the soul is free, Prepared for love and destiny. From desert sands to Bethlehem, The covenant was born in them.
