[Intro] [fingerpicked acoustic guitar, light shaker] [Verse 1] [female vocals] In a valley tucked away Behind the mountain trees Little Joseph is hiding From the whispering breeze Born with a cleft upon his lip A split upon his face He laughs behind a folded hand To hide away the space [bass guitar enters, melodic walking line] But a traveler arrived with a wheel upon his chest Rotary brought a mission and a team of the best They built a clinic in the town A shelter from the rain To turn a lifetime of shadows Into hope again [Chorus] [full band enters, driving pop-rock drums] And it only takes an hour to wash the tears away To give a child a future and a brand new day The difference between hope and despair Is a trained pair of hands The doctors worked their magic And gave a child his smile again [Verse 2] [acoustic guitar, piano chords, strings enter] Wrapped up in a quilt stitched with love and care Waking up to voices offering a prayer With a colorful bag resting on the bed And a brand new story waiting to be read [Bridge] [drums drop out, piano and strings only] Then a hand reached inside for a plastic frame A shatterproof glass that remembers his name Little Joseph looked up with the sleep in his eyes And raised up the mirror to a beautiful surprise [bass and drums re-enter gradually] He didn't see the boy who had to run and hide He saw the radiant soul that was living inside He looked into the glass, let his old fears fall He didn't see a scar or a shadow at all He looked into his father's eyes [vocal harmony enters] A smile on his brow And he cried, [little boys voice] "Oh, I'm very handsome now" Yes, he laughed, [little boys voice]"Oh, I'm very handsome now" [Chorus] [full energy, bright glockenspiel, soaring strings] See the Rotary wheel spinning round and round Bringing smiles to the places where none could be found Yeah, Joseph's back in school, standing tall and proud Singing his song to the center of the crowd (Oh, I'm very handsome now) Oh, I'm very handsome now [Outro] [acoustic guitar fades, final piano chord]
