[Intro] Hear the words of wisdom Listen and understand The fear of the Lord is the beginning Of knowledge and understanding [Verse 1] A son who hears the teaching of his father A child who keeps the instruction of his mother Wisdom cries aloud in the streets Calling the simple to turn from their ways Do not walk with those who shed blood Do not follow the path of the wicked Their feet run quickly toward destruction But wisdom calls — will you listen? [Chorus] The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom Knowledge belongs to those who seek Him Trust in the Lord with all of your heart Do not lean upon your own understanding In all your ways acknowledge Him And He will make your paths straight Turn away from evil, pursue what is righteous Walk in the wisdom of God [Verse 2] Blessed is the one who finds wisdom More precious than silver and gold Her ways are ways of pleasantness Her paths are peace for the soul Guard your heart above everything For from it flow the issues of life Put away crooked speech and evil Keep your eyes fixed upon the path Do not boast about tomorrow For you do not know what a day will bring Pride goes before destruction A haughty spirit before the fall [Chorus] The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom Knowledge belongs to those who seek Him Trust in the Lord with all of your heart Do not lean upon your own understanding In all your ways acknowledge Him And He will make your paths straight Turn away from evil, pursue what is righteous Walk in the wisdom of God [Verse 3] A soft answer turns away anger But harsh words stir up wrath A wise man listens before he answers A fool despises correction Better is a little with righteousness Than great treasure with injustice Do not love sleep and neglect your labor The diligent hand will prosper Do not oppress the poor For the Lord defends their cause Speak for those who cannot speak Let justice stand before the throne [Verse 4] Do not give your heart to adultery Do not be deceived by forbidden waters Her house leads down toward death But wisdom guards the one who walks upright Rejoice in the wife of your youth Keep yourself from the path of destruction Faithfulness guards the heart And righteousness guards the home [Bridge] Who can find a virtuous woman? Her worth is far above precious stones She opens her mouth with wisdom And faithful instruction is upon her tongue She watches over her household She works with willing hands Strength and honor are her clothing And she fears the Lord [Final Chorus] The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom Knowledge belongs to those who seek Him Trust in the Lord with all of your heart Do not lean upon your own understanding In all your ways acknowledge Him And He will make your paths straight Turn away from evil, pursue what is righteous Walk in the wisdom of God [Outro] Two paths stand before us Wisdom calls — destruction waits Choose the path of righteousness Seek the Lord and walk in His ways The wise receive correction The righteous walk in truth The fool rejects instruction But the fear of the Lord gives life Wisdom cries aloud Will you hear her voice? Fear the Lord Walk in His wisdom And live
