[Verse 1] Jesus, You must be crying You gave Your life for us And we still fight each other Like Your sacrifice meant nothing to us When did this happen? When did we turn so hard? We trade our love for anger And tear the whole damn world apart [Pre-Chorus] When did tolerance leave? When did respect grow cold? We turned our backs on family Over votes and words and gold So hear us now As we fall on our knees [Chorus] Please forgive us We’ve been acting like fools Please forgive us We forgot Your golden rule We need to do better Stop the hate and stop the lying Love one another Show Jesus we are trying [Verse 2] We shut the door on friendships For things that fade away We judge a heart in seconds Then let the bruises stay Can’t each nation simply pray For godly hearts to lead? Can’t we just be slow to hate And quicker to believe? [Pre-Chorus] When did kindness leave? When did mercy hide? We built these walls between us And end up locking ourselves inside So hear us now As we fall on our knees [Chorus] Please forgive us We’ve been acting like fools Please forgive us We forgot Your golden rule We need to do better Stop the hate and stop the lying Love one another Show Jesus we are trying [Bridge] If I were You I’d keep the gates To heaven closed up tight I wouldn’t let us into Your home until We start acting right But You still love and care for us Even when we fight You still open Your arms wide And call us into light [Final Chorus] Please forgive us We’ve been acting like fools Please forgive us We forgot Your golden rule We need to do better Stop the hate and stop the lying Love one another Show Jesus we are trying So soften all our hearts Clean out the hate Make us a family again Before it’s too late
