From hidden years to mission true, The Father’s will he would pursue. (Verse 1 – Concepts of the Expected Messiah) They dreamed of power, throne, and might, A warrior king to lead the fight. But heaven’s plan was not of war, A kingdom within, forevermore. (Verse 2 – The Baptism of Jesus) John baptized with humble hand, Jesus stood, the waters spanned. Not for sin, but consecration, A vow of love, a revelation. Then heaven spoke, the voice divine, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” The Adjuster Personal, light released, The Father’s will in him increased. (Verse 3 – The Forty Days) In Perean hills he walked alone, No fasting pain, no demon’s throne. But deep reflection, choices made, The path of truth, the course displayed. Gabriel spoke, Immanuel’s word, The sovereign Son by heaven heard. (Verse 4 – Plans for Public Work) No rivalry with John’s command, He waited for the Father’s hand. No writings left, no worldly gain, The gospel pure, the truth sustain. “Not my will but yours be done,” The path of peace, the chosen one. (Verse 5 – First Great Decision) No angel hosts to guard his way, No power used to win the day. He lived as man, with faith alone, The Father’s will, his guiding tone. (Verse 6 – Second Great Decision) No sword, no throne, no earthly crown, No armies raised, no empire found. The kingdom’s call was not of fight, But spirit born, eternal light. (Verse 7 – Third Great Decision) No wealth amassed, no gold or store, No earthly riches to adore. The gospel’s strength was faith and love, Provision came from God above. (Verse 8 – Fourth Great Decision) No signs to dazzle, crowds to sway, No miracles to lead the way. Truth would shine through life displayed, Love and mercy, unafraid. (Verse 9 – Fifth Great Decision) No temple power, no priestly chain, No worldly pact to stake his claim. Authority from heaven’s voice, The Father’s will, the only choice. (Verse 10 – Sixth Great Decision) No call for angels to defend, No host celestial to amend. If fate should bring him pain or loss, He’d bear it all, and take the cross. Not for doom, but trust complete, The Father’s plan, both strong and sweet. (Bridge – The Son’s Resolve) Six decisions sealed the path, No worldly power, no earthly wrath. The kingdom’s dawn, the gospel’s flame, Forever holy, Jesus’ name. (Chorus) Baptism’s vow, the voice above, Forty days of truth and love. Six decisions, firm and clear, The Father’s will drew ever near.
