Keep the Traffic Flowing Sun comes up on a four-lane road, Toolbox riding in a county truck, Cabinet door and a safety vest, Another intersection waking up. Cars are stacking, people gotta move, Everybody’s got somewhere to go, So I’m checking every wire and every phase, Making sure that traffic flows. Red light says stop, green light says go, Yellow says easy, take it slow, From the controller cabinet to the signal head, We keep that highway moving straight ahead. Video detection watching every lane, Radar picking up the cars again, Day or night, sunshine or rain, We keep the traffic flowing. Got a camera looking down the road, Watching every left-turn lane, Radar calling up another phase, While the controller does its thing again. Maybe phase four ain’t coming in, Maybe phase six is locked on tight, Grab the meter, trace the problem down, And get that intersection right. Red light says stop, green light says go, Yellow says easy, take it slow, From the controller cabinet to the signal head, We keep that highway moving straight ahead. Video detection watching every lane, Radar picking up the cars again, Day or night, sunshine or rain, We keep the traffic flowing. When the lightning rolls across the sky, And a cabinet takes a hit, When a signal drops at rush-hour time, We’re the ones they call to fix it. Flashing red at two a.m., Bucket truck underneath the moon, Nobody knows we were ever there When the morning traffic moves. It ain’t about getting glory, Ain’t about seeing our name in lights, It’s about getting everybody home Safe and sound every night. From the school bus to the working man, From the ambulance running through, Every green light means somebody’s moving, And that’s what we’re here to do. Red light says stop, green light says go, Yellow says easy, take it slow, Video detection, radar too, Every piece has got a job to do. From the stop bar line to the highway sign, Keeping every movement right on time, Through the heat, the storms, the middle of the night, We keep the traffic flowing. Yeah, red, yellow, green, That’s the world we know, Traffic Operations on the street— Keeping everybody rolling down the road. We keep the traffic flowing. Yeah, we keep the traffic flowing.
