Ashborne Sky

[Intro] [Instrumental interlude] [Verse 1] Cold helmets in the dark Drifting through the iron hush Terran rifles cut the void At a shape they could not touch It circled through their fire Like a wound that learned to fly Every burst it turned to ash Every scream it split the sky [Pre-Chorus] Then the silence bent and glowed Red behind the broken glass Something ancient woke at last And the stars began to gasp [Chorus] It was phoenix Phoenix in the black It was phoenix Burning through the attack And the terrans saw What they had chased A mother of flame With a thousand faces [Verse 2] From its wings came smaller sparks Leaving trails through frost and steel Not machine, not ghost, not god But a fire that could heal They had fought it inch by inch Over wreckage, bone, and ice Till the burning made them know They were staring at a life [Pre-Chorus] Then the air turned gold and red Every visor filled with dawn All at once the terrans knew The war was nearly gone [Chorus] It was phoenix Phoenix in the black It was phoenix Burning through the attack And the terrans saw What they had chased A mother of flame With a thousand faces [Bridge] And the little lights rose higher One by one from cinder fields Not a squad, not wounded metal But the young ones, veiled in heat They flew away together Through the ruin and the storm And the terrans bowed in silence As the empty heavens warmed [Final Chorus] It was phoenix Phoenix in the black It was phoenix Never coming back And the terrans saw What they had faced A mother of flame And her children on the waves It was phoenix Phoenix in the black (It was phoenix) Burning through the attack And the terrans knew As the dawn unspooled The war was over And the sky was full of jewels [Guitar solo] [Outro]
