Sinkin’ in the rain
Sinkin’ in the rain, I walk the shining street. The windows blur like secrets drifting out of reach. Water climbs the signs and steals the neon glow. Yet drops still fall, as if the sky won’t let me go. I watch the rooftops melt into a silver tide. My drifting dreams rise like lanterns I never try to hide. The city folds beneath a soft and rolling gleam. And I sink downward, carried by a waking dream. Cars turn into shadows sliding under waves. My footsteps hush like echoes wandering through caves. I breathe the rising hush, an unreal, tender refrain. Where ocean meets the clouds inside the rain. A paper boat of thoughts slips from my open hand. It sails through reflections of a half-remembered land. Rain paints the water with trembling, quivering light. And everything I fear grows strangely bright. I feel the tide inside me shift and sway. The streets dissolve and guide my mind away. A quiet pull beneath, serene and wide, Invites me deeper to the other side. I sink past storefront ghosts that shimmer as they bend. Colors blur and fold, beginning where they end. Even as I fall, the raindrops find my skin, Touching me like stories whispered from within. The city fades to murmurs underneath the blue. I close my eyes to see the world anew. Sinkin’ in the rain, I let the moment stay. A boy adrift in dreams that never wash away. Sinkin’ in the rain…
