Jim B's Safe Haven
VERSE 1 — TWANGY GUITAR, LOW ELECTRONIC PULSE] I walked past wreckage, past the dead-end signs, Past empty towns and the rusted-out lines. No lights in the windows, no voices around— Just that song pulling me over broken ground. One battered sign in the dust caught the glow: Jim B’s—the last place for those with a soul [VERSE 2 — ROWDY BAR GROOVE; FEMALE VOCAL RINGS BEHIND THE LINES] Lady Red sang, red hair bright in the light, JimB’s woman, drawing lost souls in from the night. Chrome at her temple, steel hand on the strings, But a heart seemed to live in the song that she sings. JimB built her with love from the songs she’d left behind, Saved every note, every laugh, every line. Wired her voice so the music could stay— Kept Lady Red singing when she’d gone away. A bot poured my whiskey on cue and said No water served here—just Whiskey and dreams Her long blonde hair falling free; she smiled at me I about fell to my knees. Lady Red started singing again All the saints and the sinners leaned in Then the door flew wide, and a stranger walked in. Scars on his face and a Glock on his hip. [Rap Verse 1 — Voice A: low, rough baritone; deliberate, heavy phrasing] JIM B!!! I came for the keys, the room, and the name. I’m take your bar and rewrite your game! [Rap Verse 2 — Voice B: brighter mid-range tenor; crisp, quick flow] You walked in loud and you fucking killed Red’s song, Thought you’d take my fucking bar by acting a fool These walls know my God Damn name, this whiskey my fucking hand— You can fucking try me, Go ahead I dare [Rap Verse 1 — Voice A: low, rough baritone; deliberate, heavy phrasing] “look old man your time is done” “Don’t make me pull the trigger and take you down” [Rap Verse 2 — Voice B: brighter mid-range tenor; crisp, quick flow] [ Male laughter ] “You’re fucking dreaming, son.” [Rap Verse 2 — Voice B: brighter mid-range tenor; crisp, quick flow] “I’ve fed the lost, let the hunted come in, Made room at the bar for the sinners and saints . You came for my bar with a gun and a plan— “Fuck You Man!” VERSE 3 — MUSIC BREAKS, THEN THE GROOVE RETURNS] The stranger looked around every gun in the place was pointed right at his face. He backed down; put his gun away the room breathed again. Jim B won the battle; the music came in. Lady Red sang on; the whole crowd sang along. The Bartender poured whiskey, raised her glass and said: [CHORUS — BIG COUNTRY-EDM HOOK; Female Saprano robotic voice] “Jim B’s is a safe haven for the sinners and saints, For the hearts still beating and the souls with their aches. When the world outside has nothing to give, There’s a song, a shot, and a reason to live. He kept Red’s voice; he kept her songs alive— Some things keep on singing when the world won’t survive.” [OUTRO — LADY RED’S Mezzo-Soprano VOICE , BANJO AND FADING SYNTHS] The robots poured another; the storm rolled past. Jim B stood beside Red as the glasses clinked fast. Jim B’s door stayed open through the end of the night— A refuge for the broken in the wasteland’s light.
