I’m Michael R. Charbonneau, writer and composer behind Charbonneau Soundworks. My music draws on more than 45 years of original poetry and lyrical writing, transforming memories, observations, and imagination into song. Born in upstate New York, I began building synthesizer circuits from Radio Shack kits as a child, fascinated by the connection between electricity and sound. After earning a degree in Computer Science, I spent years in Artificial Intelligence and research while continuing to write and explore electronic music. Synthesizers are central to my sound, from Yamaha Motif XS and SY-85 keyboards to modern VST instruments, Launchpad software, and AI-assisted creative tools. Blending progressive rock, symphonic arrangements, and electronic soundscapes, I use layered textures, expressive melodies, and storytelling to give decades of writing a new voice. I release music under my own name through DistroKid, with lyrics managed through platforms such as Musixmatch. All lyrics and compositions are my original works unless otherwise noted.
