I have been writing a blog about cover songs, music genre and artists since early 2018. You can read about the origins of Rock and Roll, Blues, R&B and Country Music. There are Cover Song and Chart statistics as well, all with a focus on the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s at MostlyMusicCovers.com. In the spring of 2026 I joined Suno. I have been writing for many years but rarely put words into the format of a song. As it is for many of the users it brings my words to life. Which is pretty exciting and humbling at the same time. Most of what I have written comes from my personal life. Or in the case of song called "Small Screen Cowboy" inspired by watching a TV Western. While much of what I write seems to fall into the Country Music spectrum, I have been experimenting with other genre. Generally I start with the idea, write a story and then work it into lyrics. It's just me, so in the absence of an editor I do run the song through AI. Mostly for structure and style prompts. Sometimes for rhyming and suggestions on rewriting lines.
