Marko Boško records as Mantreshwar and plays as DJ Mantra. He started in 1998 as a radio technician and night-shift disc jockey in Rijeka, and spent the next twenty-seven years working sound and picture for Croatian television. In between he lived seven years in Auroville, south India, where he learned that rhythm is taught through the body rather than through notation. His music comes out of that. Mantra and kirtan built from voice, flute and hand percussion. Organic house that carries drums from West Africa, the Ganges and the Amazon into one set. Frame drum, djembe, dundun and darbuka, studied with percussion masters in Croatia, Slovenia and Israel, and currently with Yshai Afterman. He founded Tribal Jam Orchestra, a rhythmic dance ensemble, and the Sun Moon Yoga method, which moves between the solar and lunar sides of practice on breath and drum pulse. Sounding Silence is his mantra album. Everything he makes aims at one moment: when a room of strangers locks into a single pulse.
