16 years sober now, but the noise never actually left — it just found a new place to live. I was 14 when my family got pulled into a Christian cult, and even back then, something in me knew it was wrong. That feeling never went away, even when I couldn’t do anything about it yet. Throw in a stepfather who ran hot and unpredictable, and chaos just became normal for a while. Eventually I got sober, built something real, got married, figured that chapter was finally settled — then found out the hard way that it wasn’t. Betrayal has this way of digging up every ghost you thought you’d buried. So that’s basically what this project is. The songs start out true — stuff that actually happened to me — and by the end they’ve drifted somewhere darker, more occult. Not for shock value. It’s just the only language that seems to fit what control, faith, cheating, and being haunted by something you can’t name actually feel like.
