About

Imagine a band so mysterious, you can’t even Google their real names. These songs represent the untold story of The Funky Butts, how a group of college friends spun chaos into cult fame, and what they’re sharing to commemorate their 35th anniversary. Think Daft Punk before Daft Punk – anonymity was their calling card. Through the magic of Suno, the original 12-track album (which sold 13 copies and went Zinc) is transformed and transported to 2026. Five bonus instrumentals by the band's guitarist are added for a total of 17 songs (the same number, by the way, as Abbey Road). Enjoy the madness! Listen in the order of the playlist, which is the optimal listening experience. Highlights include: "Borders" (way ahead of its time, an immigration song before that was even a thing, completely unhinged), "Denton Town" (the band's calypso-influenced love letter to their college life at North Texas), "Purple-Hatted Lady" (flipping the love song on its head), "Parade In My Honor" (the ultimate power ballad, surprisingly poignant considering its lyrics), and "My Old Cooked Meat" (the namesake for the original album that was called Meat The Funky Butts, about the basic food groups, of course!).
