Eighty Miles to Eden (Remastered)

[Verse] There's a coffee stained map on the table Spilled dreams and a crooked cable A nickel in the jukebox sings my crimes Eighty miles to Eden Out of time [Verse] Granddad's ghost in the pickup bed Haulin’ rocks while his prayers were said Crows caw sermons from telephone lines Eighty miles to Eden Clock unwinds [Chorus] Cuts and bruises dress the vine Broken hands on Borrowed time Seeds take hold Roots intertwine Eighty miles to Eden Chasing mine [Verse] They paved over Mama’s old garden gate Now it’s just weeds arguing fate The rooster’s call It don't meet the sun Eighty miles to Eden The race ain’t run [Bridge] Dusty hymns in a gas station glow Feathers clipped But they still crow Pull the strings But the years They fray Eighty miles to Eden Losen your way [Chorus] Cuts and bruises dress the vine Broken hands on Borrowed time Seeds take hold Roots intertwine Eighty miles to Eden Chasing mine [Verse] The river runs, a silver streak, Reflecting stars I used to seek. No golden gates, no streets of shine, Eighty miles to Eden, Just this heart of mine. [Outro Chorus] Cuts and bruises, stories told, Broken hands, but spirits bold. Seeds take hold, in weathered soil, Eighty miles to Eden, Reaching for my toil. Eighty miles to Eden, Claiming my own soil. Eighty miles to Eden, Making what's my spoil. [outro musical solo] [fade to end] [end]

Thank you I am glad you liked it, sometimes the songs that have a fun sound were as fun to write as they are to listen to. So I am always glad to hear when someone likes hearing it as much as I liked writing it. you take care and thanks for the feedback

I like how ya write your own lyrics (some as me) ya describe it well about how a simple talk can turn into a song, keep up the good work

Than you some song, kinda write themselves, I start with a line it becomes a verse I just start singing it out in my head and typing it down, I run it on here might need to fix a wird for flow, normally it is as simple as removing a word. But I love it, it is so much fun, and like when I did a song for my father who passed and my father-in-law my wife was listening and had tears running down her face. The songs told the stories of our dads. anyway thank you, I am having a blast

Do you write your own lyrics. I do most of mine.

Yes, I have tons of poems from years of making things up. It seems every conversation, a line from a TV show, even something someone might say to me turns into a line that becomes a verse that becomes a song. For me writing my own song, then tweaking it to flow just right is better than listening to songs on the radio. It's like playing a video game where high score doesn't matter; we win our own songs recorded for us. I love it and I love that others are enjoying them too - Thank you
