AGameAWeek Blog 2024-06-18 - More iOS Stuff (alt)
[intro] Catching up is hard to do. [verse] I woke up this morning completely shattered. It seems that two and a half days of faffing around with iOS on three iPads, is actually not good for you. [chorus] I've got everything running pretty much as it oughta be, now. [alt verse] The newer dynamic range on the volume of the new iPad Pro M4 is quite impressive, with low volumes being quieter than the iPad Air 4th Gen, and the higher volumes being much louder. [bridge] Great for 95% of cases, but has a couple of issues. [verse] When I hit my nightly playlist and have the music playing at 1% on my old iPad, I could hear it quietly playing from my bedside table, enough to help me drift off to sleep. I've now had to set it to 3% instead! Good grief!!! [chorus] The same thing with my alarm clock, which is currently set to 7%, but I might have to up it, as it really didn't do anything for me, this morning! [alt verse] There's also the lack of Touch ID button. Sure the Face ID works great, but I'd gotten used to holding the Power / Touch ID button for half a second and having the iPad wake up, and automagically open up to the home screen. [verse] The new iPad Pro doesn't have Touch ID at all, so you have to manually slide the screen up.. with your finger.. like it's the 1950s or something. [bridge] It's lost the Apple Magic! [chorus] Otherwise, though, the new M4 is definitely up to the job. With the 1.517 score in Optimisationalism 4, it's definitely managing to push the pixels out at a hefty rate, and though everything felt silky smooth before, it's feeling a heck of a lot smoother, now! [outro] Now I just need to figure out the volumes, and I'll be sorted.
