My world once loaded shades of grey CRT light began each day Woke up to BIOS, beep and scan A DOS dream for a wired man Spin, old drive, with your grinding song Thought bad sector we belong Bits and errors, crashing light Still we boot into the night I wrote in config, stitched with care Echo off, no room to spare Modem screech, a distant friend Calling ghosts that wouldn’t send Floppy soul and static sparks On shadowed screens — our finger marks Now clouds have names and drives don’t whine But I still miss the command line No GUI, no need to click Just batch files, dreams, and dirty tricks And when this session ends, I’ll pray: No Carrier but that’s okay.
