The Book of Spirits

"Do the dead still prophesy… or is it only our need to hear them?" The Book of Spirits is more than a song title — it is a mirror held before the veil that separates the seen and unseen. Its name echoes the seminal work of Allan Kardec, father of modern Spiritism, whose 1857 Le Livre des Esprits sought to codify what mediums had long whispered: that death is not silence, and the soul survives. Kardec did not claim divine revelation, but philosophical experimentation. He presented spirit communication as a rational system, built on messages received through mediums across Europe. According to his teachings, souls evolve across lifetimes, and Earth is but one plane in a vast metaphysical hierarchy. In Spiritism, morality and reincarnation are tightly bound — death is not the end, but a continuation of the soul’s lesson. But does modern science agree? Not entirely. Psychology suggests that spirit voices may arise from the subconscious, from repressed desires or unprocessed grief. Neuroscience traces mystical experiences to altered states, trauma, or hypnagogic imagery. The skeptic hears the creaking of floorboards and sees confirmation bias. The materialist dismisses it all as theater. And yet… Across cultures and centuries, people continue to report the unexplainable: whispers in the dark, dreams that guide, phantoms who speak with ancient sorrow or celestial love. Are they figments, or fragments of something more? From a traditional esoteric view, the boundary between the living and the dead is porous — not open to all, but not closed entirely. In theurgy and initiatic paths, communion with the dead was once a sacred act, done with reverence and protection, not for spectacle. The Book of Spirits, then, is not a manual, but a reflection of our longing — to understand, to transcend, to know. Whether voices from beyond are real or echoes from within, they carry the same message: "There is more to being than what the eye can see." So ask yourself: Are the spirits real? Or are you the spirit… trying to remember? (Verse 1) Whispers in the candlelight, Pages turning in the night, A sacred tome or clever lie? Do the dead still prophesy? (Verse 2) Tables shake and voices call, Is it wisdom or the fall? Spirits speak, but do they know, What awaits beyond the show? (Pre-Chorus) Questions deep as the endless void, Echoed words from the paranoid, Seeking truth in the great unknown, Or just a trick to claim the throne? (Chorus) Oh, "Book of Spirits," tell me now, Is it truth or just a vow? Fading echoes, fleeting light, Are we fools or is it right? (Verse 3) A man who claimed to bridge the way, Gave the lost a hope to stay, Yet the answers twist and turn, While the skeptic’s torches burn. (Bridge) Seance halls and whispered fears, Fading hopes through fleeting years, If the voices truly call, Why do shadows hide them all? (Chorus) Oh, "Book of Spirits," tell me now, Is it truth or just a vow? Fading echoes, fleeting light, Are we fools or is it right? (Verse 4) Flames will rise and pages burn, Will the spirits now return? Or is silence all we’ll find, Lost within the human mind? (Chorus) Oh, "Book of Spirits," tell me now, Is it truth or just a vow? Fading echoes, fleeting light, Are we fools or is it right?

There is something deeper than individual memory and consciousness, and that is their "collective analogies". In all of us are still generational fragments of predecessors and their experiences, and even genetically transmitted memory necessary for survival, which we call "instinct". But instinct is not the only one. Although we perceive ourselves as "individuals", we are nevertheless collective beings, which is why the "souls" of our predecessors we should look for within us.

An amazing comment, as always, my friend. I'd say what the ancients would call "honoring ancestors" is about continuing the lineage and avoiding the same mistakes... But nowadays, people have abandoned that. 👽
