Ezekiel's lament
(Verse 1 – English) Through veils of fire, his wings unfold, A voice of thunder, fierce and bold. He sees the past, the world’s decay, Yet we turn blind and drift away. (Pre-Chorus – Latin) Flammae caeli volant, (The flames of heaven fly,) Vox tonat, clamant, (A voice thunders, they cry,) Veritas manet. (Truth remains.) (Chorus – English & Latin) Ezekiel speaks, the heavens cry, Angelus cecidit, oculos Dei. (The angel has fallen, the eyes of God.) Wheels turn in fire, the trumpets sound, Lux et umbra—colliduntur nunc. (Light and shadow—now they collide.) Prophet of fate, still bound in chains, Miserere nobis, caelorum rex. (Have mercy on us, O King of Heaven.) (Verse 2 – English) His eyes burn bright with sacred sight, Yet man still walks away from light. He calls the lost, the doomed, the damned, But none will reach to take his hand. (Have mercy on us, O King of Heaven.) (Outro – Latin & English) Fatum scriptum est, nihil mutabit. (Fate is written, nothing will change.) Yet he still weeps for those he cannot save.
