[intro] Oh dear, this feels awfully familiar. [verse] So, yesterday then, bit of a spur of the moment thing, but opted to buy a new M4 based iPad Pro - 11inch The "One before the M series" iPad Air that I had is perfectly capable of a lot of things, but the next generation of AI Features will be leaving it behind, [drop][verse] so I decided it was about time to take the plunge and do the upgrade. I ordered it, and it arrived about 6pm. I plugged it into the Mac, and the Mac point blank refused to do a backup. I presume this is a Beta issue, but I'm not sure. [bridge] I also tried doing the backup on my old MacMini, and that didn't work either. The only option then, was an iCloud Backup. [chorus] I hadn't done an iCloud backup before, mostly because iCloud storage is bloody expensive, but the iPad Transfer tool seemed to think that was the best way to go. [instrumental] [verse] I'm pretty sure that, when I did MacBook to MacBook, the data literally went from one to the other. Quite why the iPad can't do the same, I'm not 100% sure. But there we go. [chorus] So I set off the iCloud backup, and as I type this it's 10:30pm, and the backup is at 52%.. Seriously?! Nnngh.. [verse] If you have an iPad, and you can afford the iCloud backup, I strongly urge you to do that now, before it becomes stupidly frustrating. I'll get to play with my new iPad tomorrow, I suppose. though that'll be today, because I wrote this yesterday. [outro] Timey wimey, and all that.
