
[Talking echo] The mind is programmed to find the "negatives" in life. It is part of the survival instinct in response to an impending threat. Whether real or imagined, the brain will inevitably find these threats, often overlooking any complexities or differences in favor of the most likely path of survival. \[instrumental break\] [Talking echo] Prolonged exposure to this state of survival can skew the perception of regular, everyday encounters and occurrences. Leaving the mind in a perpetual state of negativity. \[instrumental break\] [Talking echo] Within two weeks, this state of emotional disturbance is recognized as depression. When medications have little to no affect, it has evolved into treatment-resistant depression. After 2 years of treatment and therapy has failed, it is recognized as Persistent Depressive Disorder. \[instrumental break\] [Talking echo] The mind tends to swirl in a never ending spiral of negative thoughts, beliefs and emotions. At this point, virtually all hope is lost within the mind, as there seems to be no escape. The mind will eventually turn to the most extreme measures to end the suffering.
