Kung Pow Christmas

--- Song suggested by a friend of mine to make a Christmas song celebrating those places open on Christmas, particularly Chinese Restaurants. It's a nod to "A Christmas Story" where the family has to go out after their dinner is ruined and they wind up at one of the only places open (spoiler alert ;-) Since it's an American Chinese Restaurant song, I of course used traditional Japanese instruments along with a mix of Indie Pop just to really have a blend of all sorts of things. Melting Pot, right? . . . lol. Song turned out pretty fun and certainly a different kind of "Christmas" Song. This song was also a good "teaching" moment for me. I really liked the song, but the pre chorus was messed up. The word "CLOSED" was . . . well . . . I have no idea what it was, but it was certainly NOT "CLOSED" . . . lol. So, I made use of the "replace" feature and got the first one fixed. When I tried to fix the second one, the replace feature was all sorts of messed up. I could select an area to fix, but it didn't match up correctly with the lyrics, so it was impossible to get the area right. I thought I would have to totally abandon the song (which I did for a while). Then I tried something else . . . I took the version that had the fixed first Pre Chorus and then extended the song right before the second "broken" spot. To my delight and amazement, the extension fixed BOTH Pre Choruses, matching the first correct one, so I was able to save the version of the song that I wanted. It has paid off, as it appears to be the version that other listeners like too. ~David --- [Intro] [Music Build Up] [Verse 1] Snowflakes fallin', a winter's scene Family gathered, a holiday dream But hunger strikes, a growlin' sound Gotta find a place open, quick and around [Pre Chorus] Olive Garden? (CLOSED!) Apple bees? (CLOSED!) Wait, I see something open! (HOORAY!) [Chorus] Kung Pow Christmas, a festive sight Chinese food, a pure delight Fortune cookies, a lucky treat A Christmas dinner, can't be beat (Kung Pow Christmas) [Verse 2] No turkey or ham, not our style Cravin' some noodles, worth the while Hot soup and dumplings, a tasty sight A Christmas feast, a pure delight [Interlude] [Music Solo] [Pre Chorus] Olive Garden? (CLOSED!) Apple bees? (CLOSED!) Wait, I see something open! (HOORAY!) [Chorus] Kung Pow Christmas, a festive sight Chinese food, a pure delight Fortune cookies, a lucky treat A Christmas dinner, can't be beat (Kung Pow Christmas) [Verse 3] So let's raise a glass, to the open door Our new Christmas tradition, forevermore Chinese food fix, on this holy night A blessing in disguise, a wonderful sight [Interlude] [Music Solo] [Pre Chorus] Olive Garden? (CLOSED!) Apple bees? (CLOSED!) Wait, I see something open! (HOORAY!) [Chorus] Kung Pow Christmas, a festive sight Chinese food, a pure delight Fortune cookies, a lucky treat A Christmas dinner, can't be beat (Kung Pow Christmas) [Outro] Merry Christmas, to all the crew At Chinese restaurants, old and new May your business boom, and profits rise A toast to you being open, a tasty surprise (Kung Pow Christmas) (HOORAY!) [Fade Out] [End]
