[My lyrics, based on a ghost story I heard once in third grade. Suno's music. My mom's drawing: "Hower House".] [Verse 1] In the middle of the night it was pouring rain. My truck drove through the hills of Maine. I was hauling freight I was going to be late Then I saw a second grade girl walking [Verse 2] Not my problem. My schedule's tight. Her blue dress was soaked, it's the middle of the night. No, that's not right. So I slowed. I let her in by the side of the road. The little girl wouldn't stop talking. [Instrumental] [Verse 3] "Oh thank you, I'm just up past the school! Could you give me a ride? I'm Mary. I was hunting frogs you hear them crick crick crick? but they all hide. I almost caught one but I really should be going home. Watch this curve, you'll have to slow down some. With this rain, it's hard to see." [Verse 4] "There's my school, just a little further I've got a key! I hope I wasn't a bother!" Her house was a mansion with no lights on. She got out, I checked my clock, then she was gone. She must have used her key. [Verse 5] I dropped my load off, then stopped at a dive. I complained to the truckers about the awful drive. I mentioned the little girl on this night so violent Suddenly, the place was silent. Everyone was looking at me. [Instrumental] [Verse 6] The bartender wiped a plate and frowned. "Her name was Mary. She had you slow down." "That's right, " I said, "How come you knew?" "Her hair was black, her dress was pale blue? That's always the deal." [Verse 7] "Nobody';s lived there for 40 years past. The O'Niels all died, they took that turn too fast. She saved your life, that's always who sees her. YOU wouldn't have made it either. That was the ghost of Mary O'Niel." [Instrumental] I was saved by the ghost of Mary O'Niel. She's still out hunting frogs. But they all hide ... heh heh, but they all hide.
