A Haven Built
The pen glides steady on the paper’s face, Inviting friends to this special place. Grizzly, Duckie, Shadow, too, Baltic will come—they’ll all pass through. He thinks of Trolley and her family's tree, How they lit their home with joy and glee. This year, he vows, he’ll make it right, To fill their hearts with Christmas light. Out to the woods, through the falling snow, A tree so grand, with a golden glow. To honor her love, to ease her tears, A symbol of joy through the coming years. Through frosted trails, the lantern sways, A hopeful heart guides his wandering gaze. The air grows still, the moonlight beams, A silent force shapes his dreams. In the moonlit woods, he hears their cries, Tiny hatchlings 'neath winter skies. She stands guard, her wings outstretched, Her strength wanes thin, their need expressed. He kneels close, his voice is low, “No one should suffer in the frost and snow. I’ll make you a haven, a place to stay, To keep you safe till the cold melts away.” The barn takes shape beneath his hands, A haven built on love’s commands. He sees it clear as the hammer falls, Christmas isn’t about doing it all. “She would have helped,” he sighs, “She’d share this burden, together we’d rise.” Out to the woods, through the falling snow, A light of love will always grow. Not in the tasks, but in hearts that care, Christmas is love that we all share. --- Outro (Hopeful and Reflective)
