I woke at dawn and stepped outside. The sands around the city gates shifting faintly in the breeze One step and then another led me deep into the desert Like a madman drawn to the sun’s bright gaze While it washes the world clean of yesterday’s trouble. I left my sack of troubles tucked beside the bed The innkeeper will wonder: "Who would leave behind such riches?" But I will carry it no longer My love now floats like a grain of sand toward the sun If you come upon my robe Laying on this ground Faded in the sun Do not wonder where I am I am with my beloved And shift with the sands each morning. Not here nor there Not one nor two The wind that rests beside your window Carries tales of every place I’ve gone And the sun will wash your troubles, too, One bright morning

Wow this has to be the best spoken word I've heard on here. This poetry is stunningly good

Aww thank you! I'm glad you appreciated it! I have another spoken word reading in my Rumi playlist (Colorless Nameless Free) that's a beautiful poet's translation of Rumi's actual work. This one is barely a grain of sand floating in the general direction of Rumi's light.
