Fallen Angel
Lyrics by Steven R. Drennon, ©️ 1994 - 2024 https://youtu.be/5gQyOYQF4I8 Please check out my YouTube channel if you get a chance: https://www.youtube.com/@firstep3 I saw her in the corner just sipping on a beer. So I went up and asked her, “Why’s a girl like you in here? You’re such a lovely lady. I’m sure you’ve got a man.” She just smiled and told me, “There’s something you don’t understand.” She said, “He used to call me angel Before he said goodbye, But when he took another lover, I had to spread my wings and fly. Now I don’t need your sympathy. I’ve had lots of time to cry, And this angel may have fallen, But her spirit’s flying high.” I asked if I could join her, and she said, “Pull up a chair.” Then I shared her observations that life is seldom fair. She said that she was willing to try her hand once more, But even so, she recalled how she was hurt before. She said, “He used to call me angel Before he said goodbye, But when he took another lover, I had to spread my wings and fly. Now I don’t need your sympathy. I’ve had lots of time to cry, And this angel may have fallen, But her spirit’s flying high.” I stood up from the table and asked her for a dance. She smiled at me and said, “Okay, I guess I’ll take the chance.” As we moved to the music, a smile came across her face. It's plain to see, that memory she is ready to replace. She said, “He used to call me angel Before he said goodbye, But when he took another lover, I had to spread my wings and fly. Now I don’t need your sympathy. I’ve had lots of time to cry, And this angel may have fallen, But her spirit’s flying high.”
