[Intro, narrator] Ok, here's some context We're in rome, and these guys are discussing land reform Important subject, very important, especially at this time Not everyone agree that this is the most pressing matter however Such is life [Choir chants] Ooooh aaaaaah Ooooh aaaaaah Land refoooooorm Serious matter, serious stuff Eeeeeh? Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah [Choir, opera] We gather round to debate the day. The topic's land, for the people's sake, But one senator's got a different take. [Nautical sounds] Aaaaooo eeeeooooo eeeeeaaaa eeeeoooo [Chorus] Oh, Senator Titus, with your fishy schemes, Talking 'bout the ocean, the fish and the triremes, You should schedule a different meeting I think Otherwise the conversation will sink We're here to discuss the land to divide, You’re lost dreaming of the rising tide. [Verse 2] "Let’s speak of land!" the Tribune cries, But Titus leans back with knowing eyes. "The sea," he says, "is where we start, For where does land end, but where oceans part?" [Bridge, Titus speaking] "Have you heard the whales?" he says with a grin, "Calling from the depths, where the tides begin. Our triremes need more sturdy oars, And our harbors need fortified shores." "Quorum called!" but it’s to no avail, For Titus rambles on about the whale. "Senatus Populusque!" but the vote is drowned, By thoughts of dolphins swimming round. [Verse 3] The senators squirm, they exchange some looks, As Titus pulls out his nautical books. [Verse, Titus speaking] "The fish must thrive, and the whales must sing, For the sea is Rome’s true offering. You see the whales need fishes to kill They survive by eating the krill Krill are really essential for a whale They eat them by the bale!" [Nautical sounds] Aaaaooo eeeeooooo eeeeeaaaa eeeeoooo Aaaaaa Waaaa-whale noises ooeeeoooo shwshwsh waaaa Ooooh, sounds like the ocean oooooooo-weeeeeeeeee eee-uuu-eem? [Chorus] Oh, Senator Titus, with your fishy schemes, Talking 'bout the ocean, the fish and the triremes, You should schedule a different meeting I think Otherwise the conversation will sink We're here to discuss the land to divide, You’re lots dreaming of the rising tide. [Verse 4] But whispers start, as the hours pass, "Is he just mad, or is it more than that?" His toga’s damp, and his gaze is deep, Could this senator be from the deep? [Bridge] Could he be mad, or is it true, A whale in a toga, who’s come to skew? No, no impossible! those are just rumors just rumors With every splash and every swish, Could Titus be a whale with a politician’s wish? [Dialog] "Ok Titus... Tell us true Are you a whale?" [Dialog, Titus] "Hold on. Now don't stab the guy whose delivering mail Don't accuse every male of being a whale If you continue like this, the fabric of our entire society will crumble and eventually fail!" [Dialog] "Come on Titus Ketus Marius Maximus Walus! You don't need to hide your past It's a forgiving day... If you admit to it, perhaps we can look the other way" [Dialog, Titus] "Well... I guess... Maybe... No, no, I'm not a whale." [Dialog] Did you just eat krill?" [Dialog, Titus] No [Nautical sounds] Aaaaooo eeeeooooo eeeeeaaaa eeeeoooo [Verse 5] The debate it rages, but still unclear, Why Titus talks of oceans here. They plan tomorrow’s driest bill, To test if Titus loves the still. [Verse] And as the session finally ends, Titus waddles out, where the water bends. A wink to us, then a splash he makes, A senator… or a whale in the lakes? [Dialog, other senator] Titus, you really seem to be enjoying that water? [Dialog, Titus] Salt water? It's not salt water, never salted my water Also a normal thing to do, to salt ones water [Dialog, other senator] Did you salt your water Titus? [Dialog, Titus] No, no, it's fresh [Dialog] Is that krill in your glass? [Dialog, Titus] No [Instrumental outro]
