Good God (Original Lyrics)
[Verse 1] That first time I saw you, it hit like a storm Like a song I’d never heard, but somehow I knew the chords Your eyes met mine, and I swear you felt it too But I had to turn away, though I never wanted to [Chorus] You had me like, Good God—never felt a pull so strong Like a song I should’ve danced to, but I couldn’t play along Some loves you chase, some you let slip away Some chances fade, but this one haunts me some days Good God—you were fire, I was gasoline All it would've taken was one touch to light the dream Good God—if things were different, if life had played another hand Would you be standing here with me, or was this always how it ends? Guess we’ll never know, guess we’ll never see Some sparks are meant to fade, some flames weren’t meant to be [Verse 2] Heard you got divorced last fall, and I couldn't do a thing Not 'cause it changed my world, but the feeling never changed Never touched you, never kissed you, never even crossed that plane But somehow, I loved you just the same [Chorus] You had me like, Good God—never felt a pull so strong Like a song I should’ve danced to, but I couldn’t play along Some loves you chase, some you let slip away Some chances fade, but this one haunts me some days Good God—you were fire, I was gasoline All it would've taken was one touch to light the dream Good God—if things were different, if life had played another hand Would you be standing here with me, or was this always how it ends? Guess we’ll never know, guess we’ll never see Some sparks are meant to fade, some flames weren’t meant to be [Bridge] A love unspoken, a story untold Just a spark in the dark that I never could hold Maybe in another life, maybe in a different time But some dreams don’t wait, some stars don’t align [Final Chorus] You had me like, Good God—never felt a pull so strong Like a song I should’ve danced to, but I couldn’t play along Some loves you chase, some you let slip away Some chances fade, but this one haunts me some days Good God—you were fire, I was gasoline All it would've taken was one touch to light the dream Good God—if things were different, if life had played another hand Would you be standing here with me, or was this always how it ends? Guess we’ll never know, guess we’ll never see Some sparks are meant to fade, some flames weren’t meant to be [Outro] Good God—you were fire, I was gasoline But some flames are meant to flicker, not to ever be seen Some hearts move on, some names fade away But some ghosts never leave, they just learn where to stay

Thanks! Funny, my wife kept asking me to do things and after the 3rd time I said "Good God" then thought that'd make a good country song name and built off of that.
