This Guitar

[instrumental intro] [verse 1] I got a couple pieces of swamp ash Glued 'em up together tight Drew the outline of a body My own style, looking right Took out my Craftsman jigsaw and cut outside the lines I drew Sanded down the size to make the body nice and true [break] [verse 2] I hollowed out a neck slot and some spots for the pickups I got my rasp and shaped the forearm contour - I had no mix-ups I made a neck from maple with a fretboard from rosewood I cut all the frets into the board I really didn't think I could [pre-chorus] This could be a guitar someday I just need to figure out the way And I just want to get to play And get this axe to sound okay [chorus] (I wanna play) This guitar (It's gonna sound okay) This guitar (I'll make it my own way) This guitar (I just wanna play) Mmm This guitar [break] [verse 3] I seated frets into the board and glued it up over the truss rod I sanded down the radius and shaping the neck wasn't so hard I put inlay dots on matching frets and small dots on the side Used a drill to cut holes for the tuners The set even came with a guide [verse 4] I sanded down the surfaces to get it ready for some paint Sanded my fingers to the bone But you'll get no complaint I pore filled and then sanding sealed and started spraying sea foam green Laid down and sanded seven coats I was working like a machine [break] [bridge] Mounted the hardware, did the wiring, tested electronics Didn't want to miss a thing when testing all the sonics [break] Mmmmm you know it [chorus] (I wanna play) This guitar (It's gonna sound okay) This guitar (I'll make it my own way) This guitar (I just wanna play) Mmm This guitar [break] [verse 5] I went glossy for a nice reflection and applied and sanded finish Buffed a shine just like a car A look you can't diminish I strung up that guitar and set it up like a pro I plugged into my amp and let my fingers go [virtuoso guitar solo] [chorus] (I wanna play) This guitar (It's gonna sound okay) This guitar (I'll make it my own way) This guitar (I just wanna play) Mmm This guitar [outro] This guitar [fade to end] This guitar [outro] This guitar [fade to end] This guitar
