Blind Mind’s Eye ** Something Personal **
** I've pinned this track, not because I think it's one of my 'better (subjectively)' tracks. I've pinned as it explains a little how I create my tracks. Why they might all be different constantly in style, why they sometimes don't flow or follow typical song structure. Or those times when you might listen and go, that so should have been in the style of xxx or yyy). I can't see that ( I can't picture that sound), so, it's a trial to find a sound I like on the track (even if it might not me the correct voice, it was a voice I liked). ====== Just as being left or right handed is a trait of the brain, so, is something called Aphantasia. Aphantasia is the inability to visualise or create mental images. I have aphantasia, a neurological trait that leaves me with a ‘blind mind’s eye’ : the inability to mentally visualise my thoughts. While most people are able to ‘see’ images associated with stories and thoughts when their eyes are closed, I have never had this gift. When I close my eyes, I experience only darkness. I have no sensory experience. Many with aphantasia don’t realise they have this condition. This lack of knowledge is largely rooted in our use of language as a substitute. When told to ‘imagine a beach’, we assume that it merely means to imagine the concept of a beach. When told to ‘count sheep’ while falling asleep, we don’t realise that people can actually see sheep jumping over a fence. Note that most people with aphantasia are still able to dream with visual imagery. Yet I also experience darkness while I sleep. I dream in words, ideas, feelings but on awakening, I never remember the visual adventures from the night. This also impacts my creating process. (I know we all create and deliver our art in our own ways). I create without a voice or a sound, as I cannot picture either. Form my words, write the song and then I look for a voice and sound that to me gives me a voice I am happy with. The idea of building a song around a voice / or sound with an idea and picture how you'd like it to sound is just so alien to me. Not saying one is harder than the other. I have to constantly go looking for a voice (which is why so many of my tracks have a different style and sound). Not because I'm looking to be different, just that each track has it's own voice and I just need to find one I think works. But when I find that song's voice, it's quite a simple process to close and end. But I'm never going to have that perfect idea on what I want, so, I can imagine the challenges in having a sound you want and not have Suno deliver. Small changes etc. and the constant use of credits to make it just right. Just different, like all our art and creations. We create and deliver how we want to deliver. We all have preferences and will get drawn more to those sounds. Doesn't mean it's any better or worse, just different, just connects with whoever finds something in that track at the time. I do appreciate anyone who stops and listens to any of my work, some of you may 'like' it, that's a huge compliment to the track. Those tracks that drive you to comment, those are the special moments. ❤️ Someone else taking time to acknowledge your sound and see you briefly for that moment. ** I reference seeing in sound in the track, this is more I remember in sound. Hearing the sound, the voice gives that connector to 'see' / remember the memory. The knowledge of knowing it is aphantasia, is quite new to me. I'd lived near 50 years without that knowing, it's only the last couple of years that I've understood and started to adapt my process. It will never change the fact I can't visualise or create those images. But AI (Gen AI) has created tools that do help. Art to create what was previously just words and then now, here, giving a voice to words I have. The interpretation of 'Art' from AI is still subjective, but to me it is a tool that helps me adapt and see / hear things that would only ever be words in my head. Thank you for your time on this track. ❤️ ============== ** Music and Lyrics ** ** The Left Hand Tree ** ------------------------------ Blind Mind’s Eye ------------------------------ ©TheLeftHandTree https://suno.com/@thelefthandtree https://hyperfollow.com/TheLeftHandTree https://open.spotify.com/artist/5YZwC61jMSuTjAlDC6Vm1K https://www.youtube.com/@thelefthandtree ❤️ Thanks for stopping by and checking out the track. ❤️ === Close your eyes. Picture an apple. Red, maybe green, waxy-skinned, a bite missing, if you like. Easy, right? Now close your eyes. Picture an apple. Nothing. Not black, not blank, just a space where something should be but never was. They ask if I dream in colour, if memory plays back like an old reel, sepia edges, soft focus, a slideshow behind the lids. They ask if my world is flat. It isn’t. It just… isn’t like theirs. I remember in echoes, in the weight of a bag strap, in the smell of my loves coat. You see in pictures, I see in sound, you paint the sky, I feel the ground. Not less, not lost, just wired another way, I taste the world, I hear the grey. Close your eyes, the colours fade, but I still know the light, the shade. One sense gone, the rest stand tall, what you can’t see, I still recall. They say the mind’s a canvas, a world drawn in lines of light. Mine is a map traced in feeling, places marked by the weight of time. I can’t replay your movies, can’t summon the face of someone gone, but I know them in a held breath, in a laugh caught mid-air, in the way my hands remember what my eyes never could. I can’t picture the sea, but I can tell you the taste of salt, the push and pull of waves, the sound of it breathing against the shore. Tell me which one of us is really seeing? You see in pictures, I see in sound, you paint the sky, I feel the ground. Not less, not lost, just wired another way, I taste the world, I hear the grey. No frame, no screen, no fading light, but I still know the day from night. Close your eyes. Picture an apple. I can’t. But I know the crisp snap of teeth breaking skin, the rush of sweet, the bite of sharp. I know it’s real. I know it’s there. === ** Music and Lyrics ** ** The Left Hand Tree ** ------------------------------ Blind Mind’s Eye ------------------------------ ©TheLeftHandTree https://suno.com/@thelefthandtree
