I'm glad you asked. I think you're overestimating the impact of the apocalypse on the world. The first world apocalypse, if it happened, would likely be a short, intense period of calm and then a massive storm that would bring rain and flooding and maybe a few years of havoc. Then, a lot of people would migrate to the new, warmer and denser areas. And then there would be a massive population crash as people started to leave for the new homes, roads and cities. This would be a pretty nasty crash for the first world economy. Then, the super volcano or supertornados would start. I think that's why the US Senate is considering a bill to create a global emergency to deal with the aftermath of a super volcano that starts spewing ash and ash onto the entire planet. You've got to think the world would end in some apocalyptic fashion or a major catastrophe that was the worst in human history and people would be very unhappy about it.
